Well I was like a kid waiting for Christmas, woke up at 0145 hit the road at 0230, and was rolling.

About Alexandria, LA I was hearing a rumbling noise, I planned to stop and have breakfast there, well when I stopped I hear exhaust noises at my left foot, and knew that wasn't right. I rolled on to Shreveport and after a wild goose chase, I found the BMW shop, it turned out two on the exhaust manifold had worked lose. I ended up with a 4 hour delay with repairs. I was angry with myself for panicing and not checking it out myself. I could have fixed it in an hour and been on my way.

Well an Amarillo destination became questionable, but I pushed on. The rest of the day was uneventful and pleasant as the miles rolled by. By five o'clock I was begining to think Amarillo was wishful thinking, but I pushed on.

I arrived Amarillo about 945 pm, needless to say I was one tired puppy. I found the KOA, set up camp, showered, and passed out. I didnt set an alarm, but my neighbor took care of that, when he cranked up his Ford diesel about 0600 hrs. I packed up and started looking for breakfast, I finaly found a McDonalds, while eating breakfast I went over my route, called Jim and we agreed to meet at Raton Pass,NM. I pulled into Raton Pass about noon and was tanking up when Jim pulled up alongside, perfect timing! While Jim waited for me he met a couple on a K1200LT, also headed to CCR, so we connected and headed to Colorado together. We headed up I25 to Walsenburg, we proceded to abandon the freeway and head up hwy 69 to US 50. What an awesome choice, a great ride. The first bad weather hit us on 69, it lasted about 10 minutes, hail & rain. One thing about rain in the moutains, it got cold real fast, down in the 60's. We went from 90+ to 60 in a couple of seconds!

We stopped in Alida,CO for lunch about 230. Found a nice resturant with good food. This where Mark and Linda left our group to ride up to Leadville, CO. Doing an inspection before we took off again I noticed the back tire was showing considerable wear. We decided to stop in Grand Junction for the night. Highway 50 took us through Monarch Pass. and then to Montrose, then on to Grand Junction.

We stopped in Grand Junction, got out the anonomous book, started calling locals for info on where to find a tire. Was instructed to go to the HD dealer, which also is the BMW dealer. We spent Sunday night in GJ, rode to HD in the morning. They had a tire and after an hour I was on the road!

The ride west out of GJ was a remarkable ride. The desert began right out of GJ, Everything changed like entering another room! I rode west to Green River UT then turned north on 191/6 to Provo. This was an awesome stretch of road. A couple of hours later I enterd I15 just below Provo and proceded north to West Valley. This was the HOTTEST streatch of the trip, BUT it was a DRY heat! LOL It was still HOTT!

I am now in West Valley at my sons house and today we will ride up to Midway to sign in for CCR!
